Hashtag Hipster Yurt Life

A while back, I was introduced to Ruth through our mutual friend, Maggie. Ruth’s one of the most interesting people I know! She and her husband, Simon, live in a yurt on a farm about an hour away from Dublin. While I love Dublin, sometimes it’s nice to get away and enjoy a simple day away from it all.

Their cozy yurt welcomes me with open arms- we drink way too much freshly-ground coffee, and listen to soft jazz over the sounds of a lazy rain dancing on the yurt rooftop. Ruth and Simon feed me the good foods, and it’s basically like I’m on a vacation! Today, we made a flower crown, I finished my first weaving, and we took a tour of the farm, which is expansive (but aren’t all farms?). I also met Simon’s parents, who live on the property as well. The parents are so incredibly sweet!

And now… back to reality. In other news, my mind’s been traveling a thousand miles a second trying to finalize travel plans. Alex and I depart for five weeks of travel THIS WEEK! There’s still flights to buy, accommodations to finalize, and travel strategies to be made. Ma Texas gurl gets here in a little more than 24 hours (Dublin time), and then the adventure of a lifetime begins!

Life is grand. It’s brilliant!
Cheers,

Monique

  1. Although I’ve been reading all your posts and how to tips – I’m still in awe at how you’ve been able to do this. You’re amazing chica. Thinking of that little shy tot travelling the world. You go girl!

  2. Irish bliss. You are truly getting to experience the “real” Ireland by meeting so many people, and seizing every opportunity. Simon and Ruth look very sweet, and their lifestyle allows them to really be able to “stop and smell the roses”. I love it! Can’t wait to follow your 5 weeks of zoom, zoom, zoom!!! You may need another relaxing day at the yurt upon your return!
